Quittenbaum concludes its auction year on December 10 with its biannual auction of art jewelry & jewels – and what a dazzling finale it promises to be. Over 200 lots bring together the best of two fascinating worlds: contemporary jewelry art by internationally acclaimed artists and classic fine jewelry in its most beautiful form.
The art and studio jewelry section once again showcases the extraordinary diversity and creative power of this special art form. Works by Gerd Rothmann, Otto Künzli, and Hermann Jünger demonstrate the international appeal of the Munich jewelry scene and its protagonists. Energetic concepts also come from the Netherlands: from Gijs Bakker to Ted Noten, important necklaces and even sculptures are represented.
This field is complemented by outstanding designs by artists and architects such as Arman, Pol Bury, Ettore Sottsass, and Zaha Hadid, who realized their visual ideas in precious miniatures. A small collection of the famous 'Bijoux de Braque' pieces, based on Georges Braque's 'Metamorphoses' designs, completes the chapter.
The second part of the jewelry catalog promises sparkling elegance and luxurious sophistication. From exquisite Art Deco designs to creations by major houses such as Cartier and Boucheron, it spans an entire century of jewelry history. Avant-garde approaches by German goldsmiths, such as Herbert Bitter in Hanover, also enrich the offering. The finest quality diamonds, luminous emeralds, and sparkling sapphires will delight every collector's heart and offer brilliant gift ideas for the upcoming Christmas season.
Whether you are a collector of designer jewelry, a lover of extraordinary artist jewelry, or a connoisseur of classic elegance, this auction invites you to discover beauty in its most diverse forms. We look forward to a perfect end to the year that combines tradition, craftsmanship, and individuality.
All items can be viewed from Thursday, December 4. Our expert Nadine Becker is available to answer any questions and provide condition reports.
The 'Art Jewelry & Jewels' auction marked a successful end to the auction year. Collectors were particularly interested in rare pieces of jewelry with artistic appeal, which met with a great response both online and by telephone.
The highest bid was achieved by a necklace with matching ear clips by Brazilian designer Haroldo Burle Marx. The jewelry, set with blue topaz, sold for €14,000.
Strong interest in the works of Line Vautrin was already evident in the run-up to the auction, and this was confirmed during the auction itself. The 'Basset' necklace in particular was the subject of intense bidding, increasing its price from €1,800 to €4,800.
Colored jewelry and classic designs from renowned houses such as Cartier and Boucheron were also in high demand.
Gold played a central role overall, both in the field of designer jewelry and in artist jewelry. Annamaria Zanella's graphically curved ring fetched €3,200, while Ettore Sottsass's 'Wheel' design for Cleto Munari went to a private collection for €5,500.
Unsold items will be available in the post auction sale until January 9, 2026.
