'Faune flûtiste II' from 'Deux Contes', 1948

Drypoint on paper. 37.2 x 25.4 cm (plate), 84.0 x 64.5 cm (frame). Inscribed and dated in reverse below the image in the plate: 17.2.(19)48, and numbered in handwriting at the bottom left: II/VIII and signed by Henri Jonquières (ed.) (pencil). Copy 2 of 8 copies, in addition to an edition of 250.
The print was created as an illustration for 'Deux Contes' by Ramon Reventós, which Pablo Picasso illustrated with four etchings in 1948. The bibliophile edition was published in an edition of 250 copies by Éditions Henri Jonquières, Paris.
