Richard Sapper
Two folding chairs 'Nena', 1984 (design)

H. 91.5 x 50.5 x 76.5 cm.
B&B Italia, Novedrate, Como.
Plywood, plastic tubing, fiberglass reinforced, black lacquered, black textile cover. Mark: B&B NENA Design Richard Sapper (embossed).

Born in Munich in 1932, he worked in Milan from 1958 onwards, including a long-term collaboration with Marco Zanuso. The 'Nena' armchair, which he designed for B&B Italia in 1984, was a completely new type of furniture. Made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic tubing with an unusual folding mechanism, the swiveling hook allows 'Nena' to be hung on the wall, in a wardrobe, or in a closet after use, saving space.
