Standing young woman with short, curly hair, leaning on two pedestals. H. 25 cm, 14,8 x 10,8 cm (with base). Bronze, silvered and patinated, head and arms made of carved ivory. Base and pedestals made of onyx. Signed on the back right: F. Preiss (incised). Right pant leg with Preiss & Kassler logo.

With this figure of a sporty young lady in casual clothes, long trousers and a shirt with rolled up sleeves and a curly head, Ferdinand Preiss creates a new and unconventional conception of the representation of feminine characters, far removed from the rigid manner of Wilhelminism that had been cultivated up to then, free from allure and fake behavior. An EC certificate has been issued for this lot by the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection of the City of Munich, which allows objects with ivory to be marketed within the European Union.
