Model three-masted galleon 'Batavia'

H. 72 cm, 96 x 26.5 cm. Teak, stained dark, white linen, metal, painted green, thread. Marked: Plaque Batavia 1628. In display cabinet.

The 'Batavia' was a sailboat of the Dutch East-Indian company. She launched in Amsterdam in 1628. She stranded on her maiden voyage on a reef off of the Australian coast in 1629.
