H. 47 cm, H. 62 cm (overall). Bronze, dark brown patina, partially cold painted, face and hands made of carved ivory, painted. Base signed: DH Chiparus (engraved). Brown onyx base.

One of the artist's rare male depictions. Ivory with cracks due to dryness. Cold paint rubbed. pedestal broken. Fingers restored.

Provenance: Art dealer USA, c. 1983. Has been in a German private collection since. Shayo, Chiparus, Woodbridge 2019, p. 171. An EC certificate has been issued for this lot by the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection of the City of Munich, which allows objects with ivory to be marketed within the European Union.
