Chryselephantine figure 'La Nature se dévoilant à la Science', 1889
H. 40.5 cm, H. 43 cm (overall). Bronze, gilt, lapis cabochon and green gemstone. Head, torso, arms and feet in carved ivory. Hem of the garment signed: EBarrias, foundry signet of Susse Frs. Edts. Paris (embossed, partially faint). Red marble base.
Design in marble, 1889, for the Medical Faculty in Bordeaux. A second copy stood on the grand staircase of the Conservatoire d'Art et Métiers in Paris.
