The more than 200 lots of Murano glass on offer at this year's September auction are particularly impressive because of their consistently high quality. A wide variety of designs by top-class artists lead the field.

Around 1950, Fulvio Bianconi designed the first 'Pezzato' vases for Venini, a technique that required a special feel for colour and composition. The works of fused platelets are one of the most famous designs of the manufactory. Six vases are represented in this auction, ranging from the classics made of green, blue, red and colourless glass (estimated prices between 3,000 and 5,000 EUR) to elaborately crafted bottle vases (estimated prices 9,000 - 14,000 EUR).

As always, Barovier & Toso will be present with some iconic designs. There are eight positions in different designs of the 'Intarsio' technique by Ercole Barovier. The particularly rare variations include a model with fused zigzag plates and air bubbles (estimated price 6,000 - 9,000 EUR), as well as a vase with a luminous colour combination of yellow, red and clear glass (estimated price 8,000 - 12,000 EUR).

Another masterpiece comes from the manufacture Archimede Seguso. The sophisticated vase 'A fantasia corallo ametista' with coral and violet ribbons in 'Merletto' technique, wound with white spiral threads, was designed for the Biennale di Venezia in 1952. It comes with an estimated price of 6,000 to 9,000 EUR.
