Auction 140C

Auction Murano Glass

Catalogue

Collectors will be excited about the offer of Murano Glass this October.

A pair of 'Primavera' candlesticks by Ercole Barovier are the highlight of the auction. These extremely rare 'Primavera' pieces had been introduced at the 17 Biennial in Venice in 1930. The 'Primavera' pattern was created by accident and the manufactory was not able to maintain this line of décor.

Napoleone Martinuzzi contributes another early design for Venini. The 'Filigrana' vase, whose red and blue threads make for a wonderful contrast, was exhibited at the Barcelona World Fair in 1929. Carlo Scarpa's 'Corroso' vases saw the light of day only a few years later, also for the Venini factory. A gorgeous piece will be present in the auction.

Ercole Barovier's popular décors of the 1950s, like 'Tessere ambra', 'Lenti', 'Intarsio' and 'A spina' continue the quality of the offer. The auction is rounded off by first-class manufactories like Aureliano Toso, Seguso Vetri d'Arte and A.Ve.M.

Each object will be on display at our premises from 4 October.
