With his series since the 1980s, Frank Stella has developed a radical extension of painting into space. Curved, wave-like lines, strong color contrasts, and relief-like layers of material create a visual dynamic in ‘Moby Dick’ that is reminiscent of turbulent currents and the whale from Herman Melville's novel of the same name.
Not de-framed.
