Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. 'Nudes in front of the curtain', 1911. Woodcut (American poplar, handmade), on chamoix vellum. 30.5 x 40.0 cm (depiction), 42.0 x 50.0 cm (sheet). Signed: S. Rottluff 1911 (pencil). Of Schmidt-Rottluff's printing blocks rarely more than 10 exemplars were printed up to 1912, he did all of them himself. Often, the edition was even less than ten exemplars. The 'Akte vor dem Vorhang' woodcut is extremely rare and is rarely seen on the international market.
