Without lighting unit. Provenance: The following lot numbers (324 - 330) all come from a party basement that was designed and furnished by Verner Panton for a private client in the early 1970s. The client was fascinated by the living environments Panton created for Visiona I and II and therefore specifically chose these color-intensive, psychedelicfantastical living spaces for his 400-square-meter party basement in his private home in a quiet residential district of Vienna. The bar was dismantled after the owner’s death a few years ago; the remaining pieces of furniture and lighting fixtures went to his heirs. Viennese photographer Stefan Oláh was able to photograph this little-known total work of art in 2019 for his exciting and highly informative photo book on 1970s architecture in Austria (Bunt, sozial, brutal.) and thus preserve it, at least digitally, for posterity. Verner Panton’s fabrics were used in this futuristic setting as wall coverings, tablecloths, and partitions; the 'Ring' lamps on offer achieved cult status in part due to their use in the legendary Spiegel publishing house cafeteria. The furniture pieces from the 'Welle' series were produced only in very small batches and are extremely rare on the secondary market.
