Not de-framed. Provenance: Gift from the artist to his friend Prof. Dr. Eberhard Bartke (East German art historian and former director of the Berlin National Gallery as well as general director of the Berlin State Museums) and his wife; Since then it has been continuously owned by the Bartke family (through inheritance from the daughters of Prof. Dr. Eberhard Bartke).
