The calendar was designed by the Swiss artist Paul Talman in 1969 and produced posthumously in 1987 in an edition of 999 copies. The calendar comprises 31 sheets, each numbered one to 31; one sheet for each day of the month. The sheets are held together in a metal frame that can be mounted on a wall.
