The Postsparkasse in Vienna, built between 1903 and 1912, is a perfect example of Wagner's will to create a Gesamtkunstwerk. Aluminum and glass structure the outer facade. All materials and construction methods used were selected for durability and ease of care, an idea that is still very relevant today! Aluminum and glass also structure the interior of the huge room, even the floor is covered with transparent glass, which supports the inflow of natural light from above. Many small wall/pillar lights also add to the illumination. Wagner had the furniture produced by the companies Thonet and Kohn. He planned the armchairs made of bent wood in different versions, depending on the environment in which they were to be used, in a clear hierarchy between the director's office and the waiting area in the cashier's hall.
