Bořek Šípek
'Gudrun am Leineufer' chair from the pre-series, 1984

H. 85 x 68.7 x 38.5 cm. Made by Cremer & Cremer, Eschweiler. Maple and ash wood, painted light blue and light gray.

During his time as an assistant (1977-79) at the chair for industrial design in Hanover, Šípek had a friend named Gudrun, with whom he often visited the flea market on the banks of the Leine on the weekends. On one of those flea market trips he bought an old chair because he kind of liked it. At home he sawed the chair apart and put it back together mirror-inverted, experimented a bit, and finally the sides of the chair and a triangular seat remained. Nothing happened to the prototype until Franz Leitner found this unrealized design at Šípek's and produced it in small series in 1984. Unfortunately, it is not known whether the chair only got its name in 1984 or whether it was already called that as a prototype. Limited edition.
