Emile Gallé, Nancy. Symbolist 'Fruits d'érable et oiseau' jardiniere, c1900. H. 11.9 cm. Cased glass, clear, dark blue inclusions (Salissures intercalaires) and amber metallic foils. Pattern worked with the wheel, after East Asian models with acorn, leaves and an almost hidden bird. Signed: Gallé.

Rare vase with bird. Gallé joins impressions of his Lorraine fatherland with East Asian, mostly Japanese, art.
