Oil on canvas, relined. 88.0 x 154.2 cm (canvas), 93.0 x 160.0 cm (frame). Signed and dated on a fallen column in the image: Harper 1772 (oil). Framed and described as such.

Retouched. Provenance: According to the Nagel auction catalogue, Stuttgart, the painting comes from the archives of Ludwigsburg Palace and was given to the decorative painter Franz Riessler (1869-1940) in 1923 as payment for restoration work in the palace; Nagel Auctions, Auction 389S on 26.09.2003, Lot No. 1272; private collection in southern Germany.

Includes a copy of an invoice from Nagel Auctions, Stuttgart, dated 2003.
