Catalogue
The summer auctions conclude with a diverse selection of jewelry. Over 150 items of conceptual art and studio jewelry, high-carat gems, coveted wristwatches and vintage accessories await you on July 3, 2025.
Works by Georges Braque, Claude Lalanne and Karel Appel show that jewelry and fine art have always existed in symbiosis. Inspired by the mythological tales in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Braque created numerous motifs in his late work, which were translated into gouaches, sculptures and pieces of jewelry - the latter executed by the jeweler Heger de Löwenfeld. The 'Procris' brooch made of gold and enamel with Braque's well-known depiction of birds comes from this series and is estimated at € 5,000 to € 7,000. Flora and fauna merge into sculptural jewelry objects in Claude Lalanne's work. Her works already attracted a great deal of attention in the December auction. With the 'Papillon' bangle and the 'Hortensia' earrings, the July auction also offers a wonderful selection. Karel Appel's brooch/pendant 'Child's Clown' from 1980 is one of the highlights of the artist's jewelry. Here, he translates the expressive depictions of his circus series into gold and enamel - two diamonds adorn the clown's eyes (estimate: €12,000-15,000).
The art and studio jewelry section features brooches with poetic material combinations that will definitely become conversation pieces on lapels. A red silk thread winds like sprouting buds through the delicate silver leaf tendrils in Mari Ishikawa's brooch from the 'Rebirth' series from 2015 (estimated price EUR 800 - 1,000). The smallest ceramic vessels sit like ripe fruit on the rosehip branch of the 'BARE DE SAINT MALO II' brooch by Dutch artist Peter Hoogeboom (estimated price EUR 900 - 1,200). Through the use of interference filters, Jiro Kamata's brooch 'Border #2' becomes a changing play of colors that changes with every movement (estimated price EUR 1,300 - 1,600).
Not all goldsmiths and silversmiths are able to hold their own in the fields of jewelry and utensils. We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to offer three exceptional items by Hermann Jünger and Gerd Rothmann in the auction. An early chalice by Rothmann from 1967 (estimate EUR 4,000 - 6,000) and a minimalist table cross by Jünger from 1989 (estimate EUR 2,000 - 3,000) come from the sacred field. Rothmann's large-format silver plate 'Taumeligblau und Glücksgarantig', which depicts the awkward first steps of a child, is estimated at EUR 11,000.
From elegant Art Nouveau designs, such as a floral bracelet by the Augsburg goldsmiths Schmedding (estimate EUR 9,000 - 12,000) to classics by Cartier, such as the Tank bracelets in white gold and yellow gold (estimate EUR 5,000 - 6,000 each) - anyone looking for timeless pieces of jewelry will also find a top-class selection here. The 'Lange 1' men's watch by A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte (estimated price EUR 14,000 - 18,000) and the popular Rolex 'Cosmograph Daytona' (estimated price EUR 18,000 - 24,000) will also appeal to watch collectors.
A small chapter is dedicated to vintage accessories and clothing from major fashion houses. Whether Louis Vuitton or Hermès - suitcases in various sizes are represented here and will be a luxurious travel companion in summer.

Jewelry by fine artists in the focus of the auction
At the end of the auction week on July 3, bidders were delighted with a diverse selection of studio jewelry, art jewelry and jewelrs. It was primarily the works by fine artists that had the phones and online platforms buzzing. Georges Braque's ‘Procris’ brooch, which also graces the title of the catalog, was one of the auction's favorites from the outset. Called up at €4,600, the bidders on the phones raised the piece of jewelry to €9,500. The floral works by the artist Claude Lalanne were already in great demand among collectors in December and the interest is unbroken this time too. The ‘Papillon’ bangle was knocked down for €5,000. Her clip earrings in the shape of delicate hydrangea blossoms achieved almost four times their asking price. After an exciting bidding battle, a collector secured the winning bid of €9,000. Two pieces of jewelry by sculptor Pol Bury, which translate his sculptural skills into a small format, were also very popular. The ‘Halfmoon’ ring (hammer price €4,400) and the ‘Square’ ring (hammer price €5,500) both went to a private collection.
The gentlemen also got their money's worth at the auction. The elegant men's watch from Patek Philippe lived up to its estimate and changed hands for €25,000.
Unsold lots can still be found in the post auction sale until August 1 and we are already looking forward to exciting consignments for the upcoming December auction.
