Henry van de Velde
'Bloemenwerf' chair, 1894/95

H. 92 cm, 44 x 49 cm. Presumed to have been made in Brussels. Mahogany. Back and seat upholstered in sand-colored velvet.

The chair was designed for van de Velde's own house in Uccle, near Brussels. Several versions of the chair are known; it exists in different sizes, with and without armrests, made from different woods, and with various upholstery options. Reupholstered.
