USA, unknown, 1969. 'Neil A. Armstrong (press photograph), 1969 and one of the astronauts standing next to the US flag, c1969. Two black and white photographs, vintages, on photo paper. 25.2 x 20.5 cm resp. 11.1 x 17.5 cm. The Armstrong photograph stamped by NASA and released for April 18, 1969. The other photo inscribed verso: Apollo # 13 (!) (ink) and NASA. The inscription is presumed to have been added later, hinting towards Apollo # 13. This was probably by mistake, the moon landing of Apollo #13 was aborted, its oil tank having exploded during the flight. The photograph is presumed to also be of the Apollo # 11 mission, depicting one of the two astronauts (Armstrong or Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin) erecting the first US flag, which was knocked down again by the capsule's launch at departure.
