'Elbow chair' from the 'Lutrario Dance Hall', 1959

H. 76 x 53 x 56 cm. Made by SC International Poltrone & Arredi, Ancona. Tubular steel, steel, painted black, brass cuffs, ply, red 'Resinflex', wooden armrests. Marked: Maker's paper label, 'DORO CUNEO' (embossed).

Designed in 1959 for the 'Lutrario Dance Hall' in Turin. Mollino designed the 'Lutrario Dance Hall' in 1959 together with Alberto Bodogna. The interior of the 'Dance Hall' is seen as one of the most spectacular interiors of Carlo Mollino's. Differently coloured neon lights illuminated the rooms, the walls in the hall, covered in gaudy tiles, reflected the light. Playful, 'Gaudi'-esque, balustrades and ornaments of wrought-iron highlighted the 'arabesk' interior additionally. Wood of armrests replaced.
