Several role models. The figure of the East-Asian woman comes probably from a sketch by Louis Hestaux, at Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy, c1885, p. 112, depicted in cat. Emile Gallé, Jugendstilmeister aus Nancy, Karlsruhe 2005, no. 71; another sketch, at Paris Musée d'Orsay, c1889, depicts a couple standing under a tree, in the style of Persian miniatures, cf. Thiébaut, Les dessins de Gallé, Paris, 1993, p. 99, pl. 4.
