Once again, Chryselephantine figurines were fervently sought after. So, the ‚Danseuse d’Egypte’ by Demètre Chiparus reached the highest price with € 40,000; likewise fiercly contested, Dancer Zoula de Boncza attained € 36,000. Equally successful were a pair of heads by Franz Hagenauer whose price was being raised from a solid € 7,000 to proud € 20,000.

75% of the more than 40 pieces of pâte de verre pieces could be sold. Especially, two collections of medallions from the estate of Yehudi Menuhin rose from € 1,000 up to € 8,000 resp. € 9,500 after a bidding contest between several international collectors.
60% of the glass choice found new owners. The selection of Charles Schneider glass had been in the centre of attention. Off 36 items only 6 stayed back. A German collector was able to secure himself a table light with turtles and got the upper hand over an American competitor at € 4,800. 

 

 

As already had happened in the Spring auction, furniture by Louis Majorelle knew great popularity. A pair of credenzas was hammered down in the favour of a German collector at € 20,000. Another credenza’s price increased from € 700 to € 2,600.
Loetz glass, too, was high-priced. A ‚Phanomen’ goblet from 1901 with applied drips surpassed its estimate and went for € 13,500 into a German collection. A rare ‚Phanomen’ vase with Spaun signature belongs now to an American collector for the hammer price of € 5,800. 

 

 

Best sellers of other departments included a rare floor light by Riviere Studios, New York that will go back to its home country for € 17,000. For a belt buckle by Georg Jensen a battle was fought between to passionate collectors that increased its price from € 8,000 to € 15,000. Last but not least, a symbolistic painting by Franz Hofstotter, well-known as a designer for Loetz attained € 13,000.
