Post auction report

Quittenbaum Art Auctions is delighted to have obtained very good results for its Murano Glass and Design divisions. In total, more than half a million Euro have been grossed on the day the auctions took place.

The exquisit high-quality choice of Murano glass managed to convince private collectors from Germany and abroad. Thus, a vase by Carlo Scarpa, for Venini, with ball cut decoration made by Franz Pelzel attained a record price of € 60,000. Rare pieces, like Ercole Barovier’s ‚Mosaico’ vase, 1924/25 (hammer price € 25,000), his ‚Dorico’, 1962 (hammer price € 20,000) and a ‚Murrine’ vase with flower pattern by Giuseppe Barovier (hammer price € 16,000) surpassed their estimates by far. Also the glasses from an important Italian private collection knew lively interest: Top lots like Libero Vitali’s exceptional vase with applications (hammer price € 7,200), and an ‚Incalmo’ vase by Thomas Stearns (hammer price € 10,500) changed hands for their estimates. All in all, the offered glass choice attained roughly € 364,000 (nett, without buyer’s premium or VAT).
