Murano glass received a gross proceeds of half a million Euro

The stars of the auction were Fulvio Bianconi and Ercole Barovier. Their works attained the highest hammer prices. The highlight of the offer, Ercole Barovier’s ‚Mosaico’ vase, from the estate of the Barovier family, received the top hammer price of € 52,000,-- after a long bidding combat between three international collectors (reserve: € 16,000,--). Barovier’s elegant ‚Sidone’ vase changed hands for € 18,000,-- and for one of the three ‚Dorico’ vases € 16,000,-- were assented. A German collector was the lucky winner of the bottle-shaped ‚a fasce’ vase by Fulvio Bianconi, he got the upper hand over several bidders from home and abroad, and paid € 30,000,--. A collector from a neighbouring state was happy to secure himself two outstanding unique specimens: a one-off bowl with dedication by Fulvio Bianconi (estimate: € 8,000,--) for € 23,500,-- and a ceiling light, designed by Paolo Venini and Enrico Capuzzo, for € 20,000,--. Bianconi’s unicum vase with polychromatic concentric rings missed its estimate at hair’s breadth and sold for € 15,300,--.

All ‚Pezzato’ vases, classics among the Muranese art glass, could be sold. Also designs by Carlo Scarpa were sought after. His ‚a spirale’ jug went from a moderate € 800 up to
€ 3,300,--. Japanese-born Yoichi Ohira was the most prominent of the contemporary Murano artists. His ‚canale grande’ vase went for € 16,000,-- to the United States.
