Post auction report

The recent reservation of commerce showed during the Design auction. Private collectors won some very important design icons. A German collector paid 14,000,-- € (gross; 13,000,--) for a complete ‚Frankfurt’ kitchen by Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky; a Dutchman bought three rare glass vases by Ettore Sottsass for 8,500,-- to 10,700,-- € (gross; 8,000 – 10,000,--). Two brown ‚Egg’ chairs by Arne Jacobsen will adorn the home of a French design lover for 7,500,-- and 8,300,-- €. Aldo Tura’s cabinet with green kid leather caught the eye of some Munich-based furniture aficionados and its price increased accordingly up to 6,250,-- € (gross; 2,500,--). Technical devices seem to be on a roll at the moment. A well preserved ‚HF-1’ TV-set, designed by Herbert Hirche in 1958 for Braun, sold for 4,000,-- € (gross; 2,000,--). Likewise, a TV-set designed by Sottsass that a German collector bought for 4,200,-- € (gross).
