Post auction report

Quittenbaum Kunstauktionen is very pleased with gross proceeds in the amount of € 575.000. The lounge suite by Ico and Luisa Parisi fetched € 44.625. Compared to the previous year, an increase of 20% was noted for the first half of 2008.

With thirty accepted bids of over € 4.000 it goes to show that Design-objects fetch higher and ever higher prices nowadays. The top three bids came from private international collectors.
The lounge suite consisting of two sofas and a lounge-chair by Ico and Luisa Parisi went to an italian collector for € 35.000. Gino Sarfatti’s standard lamp was secured for € 26.000 by a swiss collector and Marcel Breuer’s „Lattenstuhl“ was worth € 16.000 to a german bidder.
International dealers fetched Mangiarotti’s console-table 'Incas' (hammer price € 10.000), Klaus Grabe’s recliner 'C5' (hammer price € 8.000) and Jean Prouvé’s wall-mounted writing desk (hammer price € 7.500).

Private collecters bought some other outstanding pieces:
Alvaar Alto’s 'Paimio’ lounge-chair went to a german collector for € 9.000, as did Hubert Berke’s tapestry (hammer price € 8.200). George Nelson’s 'Jewellery Chest' (€ 8.000) will be traveling to the UK and Gio Ponti’s couch-table (hammer price € 8.000) found a new home with an italian collector.

With gross proceeds of € 2,5 Millionen, Quittenbaum increased the results of the first half of 2008 by 20%, compared to 2007. This puts Quittenbaum in the lead-position of auctioneers of design and applied arts in Germany
